Cody New is a physically imposing left-hander at 6'3", 215 pounds who brings quality stuff and durability, logging 80 innings in 2025 while sitting 90-93 mph with his fastball and touching 95-96 at times. The arsenal is headlined by a nasty curveball that serves as his go-to secondary offering, generating solid strikeout numbers and chase rates. His developing changeup shows promise but needs refinement to neutralize right-handed hitters more consistently. New has also experimented with an interesting sweeper shape that could develop into another weapon, and evaluators believe he could benefit from a kick-change or splitter with more vertical depth to play off his carry fastball. The elevated barrel rate (16.9%) suggests command inconsistency remains a development point, but the underlying foundation is strong with quality stuff, durability, and multiple paths for arsenal development in pro ball.

A Cal Baptist product, Dumesnil was one of the biggest winners on the Cape this summer. Checking the box of a great summer gives me confidence that his spring data is the real deal. He did a great job limiting his whiffs, but is just so aggressive that his chase rate is >30%. He swings at 52.5% of pitches he see, which is crazy high. It was the root cause of his Ks this summer as well. His contact quality and bat speed are both non-issues for me.
