Knowles works off a mid-80s cutter that he can land anywhere in the zone. He's been 88-92 in the past, touching 94 with carry from a low vertical slot. More recently he's been 91-94 consistently. He's shown a curveball in the 76-79 range with plus drop and slight sweep. His changeup has improved, but he works off of the FF/CT/CB primarily. His command is below-average but his control is average, and the feel for spin is plus. He's undersized but extremely young for the class and checks every modern analytical box. He's fairly similar to Nolan Devos in the sense that he's an undersized small school righty with solid fastball traits.
