11Point7 is launching PFP. Nope, not Pitchers Fielding Practice. “Picks Ferda People.” Sports Betting coverage has returned and is going to reach new heights on the website this season! One of the biggest examples of NCAA Baseball’s growth is the interest in the gambling market. We’re going to cater to that interest with some top notch College Baseball picks that will give you an extra sweat on the game and net you a profit!

College Baseball Picks For February 16th

YTD: 3-1, +1.85u (All bets are to win 1 unit)

*Lines listed are at time of writing. Odds are subject to change*

Caution: Good bettors normally sit around 56-60%. Our resident College Baseball Fortune Teller went 5-0 yesterday and boasted about it on social media. Gambling gods normally have a good knack of evening these kind of things out.

7:00 PM ET: +114 Penn State vs UConn (O/U 13.5)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Penn State: Ryan DeSanto (2024: 75 IP, 3.72 ERA, 88 K, 35 BB, 3.53 SIERA)

UConn: Thomas Ellisen (2024: 19.1 IP, 6.52 ERA, 12 K, 14 BB, 5.66 SIERA)

This is the “WTF” line of the day, also known as “wrong team favored.” Look at the pitching matchup and tell us why UConn should be favored.

Ryan DeSanto is a St. Joseph’s transfer that has been receiving loads of preseason accolades. We don’t know the true reason why the Nittany Lions elected to start their best (on paper) arm on Sunday, but we will take advantage of it.

The southpaw has a 3-quarters arm slot and shreds hitters with a 4-pitch mix. DeSanto diced up the Cape to a tune of 3.33 ERA and .222 opponent’s batting average in 24.1 innings.

On the other hand UConn did not look sharp on Saturday whatsoever. It was an atypical Jim-Penders-coached-team’s performance. The Huskies made multiple errors in the field and dropped a foul pop fly or two. Not to mention they just lost to a Missouri team that Penn State TKO’d 10-0.

For the cherry on top, UConn is trotting Thomas Ellisen out onto the mound for the start. Last season was not great for him but Penders is hoping for a breakout. Ellisen can get into the mid-to-high 90s with his fastball and does have a devastating slider. But 98% of Fall Reports are positive and if this one burns us that’s what happens when betting on college baseball.

The Bet: +114 Penn State ML (Play this to -140)

11:30 AM ET: -110 Louisville vs Arizona -120 (O/U 13.5)

PROBABLE PITCHERS

Louisville: (Northwestern transfer) Peter Michael (2024: 10.1 IP, 15.68 ERA, 8 K, 10 BB, 7.08 SIERA)

Arizona: Smith Bailey (Freshman RHP)

We have to admit, betting on a Freshman making his debut is risky business, but this is a great spot. Both teams got blitzed and had to burn quite a bit of pitching yesterday. However, the Wildcats are winless and this solid program will be looking to salvage the weekend and hit the road on a high note.

Smith Bailey is 6’6, 200 pounds and possesses major league potential. The frosh is going to pound the zone with a mid-90s fastball and three top notch offspeed offerings.

Over the Fall Bailey threw 12 IP, struck out 13 batters, and walked five. He held opponents to an xOPS of .664 and drew a 73% whiff rate with his slider. For what it’s worth the Wildcats played a couple of intrasquad scrimmages, faced two junior colleges, and a Mexican Pacific League squad.

Also, these first two games UofA has faced LHP starters. Noah Bieniek is on-site and has made an observation that Arizona’s offense has looked much better against bullpen arms. For what it’s worth, both Brendan Summerhill and Mason White are left handed hitters.

The Bet: -120 Arizona ML (Play this to -145)

Good luck to those who tail these College Baseball Picks for February 16th!
